Pet Shops
The Environmental Health Division is responsible for inspections of pet shops where exotic birds are handled and sold. Exotic birds can transmit a disease to humans known as Psittacosis. It is important to ensure that birds are handled in a sanitary and safe manner.
Pet shops handling exotic birds are required to have a permit. The permit fee is $80.00/annually.
